Plus500 Signs US and Brazil Broker Deals in One Week; Both Still Await Closing

The conditional Hedge and Guru CTVM acquisitions would add two different local market gateways. Neither deal has closed, and neither price has been disclosed.

Plus500 said on 20 October that it had conditionally agreed to acquire all of Brazil's Guru Corretora de Títulos e Valores Mobiliários Ltda (Guru CTVM). A week earlier, on 13 October, it announced a conditional acquisition of Hedge Capital Markets Inc. and its subsidiaries in the United States. Both transactions concern access to locally regulated brokerage businesses; neither announcement says the deal has closed, and neither discloses a purchase price.

Two targets, two regulatory routes

The Brazilian target is the specific legal entity Guru CTVM, not an unrelated investment app or similarly named company. A Brazilian central-bank record identifies its CNPJ as 57.707.777/0001-08 and records an operating authorization decided on 16 December 2025 and published the following day. Guru CTVM's own site lists the same entity and registration number. That existing authorization must not be mistaken for approval of Plus500's proposed change of control. The acquisition remains subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.

In the US, Plus500 proposes to buy Hedge Capital Markets Inc. and its subsidiaries, including Hedge Pro LLC, an SEC-registered, FINRA-member broker-dealer. The announced conditions include FINRA approval under Rule 1017. Plus500 says the deal would expand its reach into listed securities such as stocks and ETFs. Its US multi-asset “super-app” targeted for the first quarter of 2027 is a plan, not a product already launched.

Buying market access rather than simply another app

Plus500 already acquired futures commission merchant Cunningham Commodities and technology company Cunningham Trading Systems in 2021, building a US futures and futures-options operation. Hedge would add a different, SEC/FINRA-regulated securities route. Putting products in one future interface would not make their legal entities, clearing arrangements or customer protections identical.

Brazil is a separate strategy. In its 2026 interim results, Plus500 described a partnership with technology provider Nelogica to connect Brazilian brokers and financial institutions to CME derivatives markets. Acquiring Guru CTVM could add a local regulated brokerage entity. The first is a technology and market-access partnership; the second is a proposed ownership transaction. Plus500 discusses potential Brazilian stocks, futures, options and fixed-income products but has not announced product-launch dates or automatic customer transfers.

Price, status and customer implications

Plus500 says it would fund the acquisitions from existing cash resources exceeding US$860 million as of 30 June 2026. That figure is its cash balance, not the price of either acquisition. Neither consideration has been disclosed. The US deal still needs its stated FINRA process; the Brazilian deal still needs customary approvals. The targets should not be described as already controlled by Plus500.

If completed, the two deals could broaden Plus500's product map across US futures, US securities and Brazilian local markets. For customers, the decisive disclosures will be which legal entity contracts with them for each product, who executes and clears trades, where assets are held, and which complaint and protection regime applies. Today's announcements do not establish automatic migration or an integrated operating platform. Brokers and technology providers will also have to address cross-license risk controls and systems integration.

TraderVote view

Two agreements in a week suggest a strategy of acquiring local permissions, specialist teams and market access, then applying Plus500's technology and distribution. That is an editorial reading of the announced transactions, not evidence that the expected synergies have materialized. The next checkpoints are regulatory decisions, closing, disclosed consideration and clear customer-facing contracts and money flows. Calling signed deals completed—or treating the cash balance as a purchase price—would mislead readers.
