FCA warns that VenturoFX is unauthorised in the UK: how to verify cross-border licence claims

The FCA warned on 4 September that VenturoFX may be targeting UK consumers without authorisation. The platform also displays an overseas regulatory claim, showing why a licence claim and permission to serve a market are separate questions.

The UK Financial Conduct Authority issued a warning about VenturoFX on 4 September 2026. It says the platform may be providing or promoting financial services to UK consumers without FCA authorisation or registration. Customers dealing with an unauthorised firm would generally lack the normal protection of the Financial Ombudsman Service and Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

VenturoFX's own website describes the business as a CFD broker offering forex, precious metals, indices and digital assets. It promotes leverage of up to 1:500 and crypto funding, and claims that “VenturoFX Ltd” is regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission under CIF 123/12.

These statements cannot responsibly be collapsed into a simple licensed/unlicensed label. The FCA warning establishes the UK-authorisation position. The CySEC statement is a first-party claim on the platform's website. TraderVote did not independently confirm, from the primary materials reviewed, the legal entity, licence number, permission scope and domain relationship behind that claim. We therefore neither treat it as verified nor declare it false.

What the warning establishes

The FCA names venturofx.com and states that VenturoFX is not authorised by it. CySEC's website also carries an IOSCO investor-alert index entry for the FCA warning, dated 4 September. That index corroborates the existence and source of the UK warning; it is not CySEC validation of the licence claim displayed by the platform.

The FCA notice does not disclose aggregate customer losses, withdrawal-complaint totals, a funds trail, a police case or a final court judgment. Unauthorised status must not be rewritten as fraud, disappearance or criminal conviction.

Why an overseas claim does not replace local permission

A financial licence belongs to a specific legal entity and comes with defined activities, client categories and territorial limits. Even if a similarly named company is registered elsewhere, that does not automatically connect the website, contract and receiving account to the licensed entity or permit solicitation in the UK.

Traders should match the full legal name, register number and status, permitted products and clients, registered web domain and contact details, account agreement, disclosures and receiving entity. Any mismatch needs an explanation that can be independently checked in the regulator's register.

Risks for forex, gold and digital-asset traders

High leverage, CFDs and crypto funding combine market risk with counterparty and recovery risk. A wallet or third-party payment route should be traced to the contracting entity. A functioning platform, live prices or an account balance does not prove the legal entity or client-money safeguards.

Existing customers should preserve onboarding records, contracts, chats, orders and payment evidence, and use contact details obtained directly from regulators rather than links supplied by a salesperson.

TraderVote view

The central issue is not which of two regulators is “more correct”; the statements address different questions. The FCA has established that it has not authorised VenturoFX for the relevant UK activity. Any overseas licence claim must still be checked against the named regulator's register for entity, number, permissions and approved domain. A licence claim is the start of due diligence, not its conclusion.
