FCA adds three unauthorised-firm warnings: checking websites, social accounts and WebTrader gateways

The FCA added ExoticInvest, The FBA Investor and Bridge Marks to its Warning List on 3 September. The entries span websites, a social handle and multiple WebTrader-related domains.

The UK Financial Conduct Authority updated its Warning List on 3 September 2026 with EXOTICINVEST TRADING AND INVESTMENT FIRM, The FBA Investor/@thefbainvestor and Bridge Marks Limited. The FCA says each may be providing or promoting financial services without its permission.

The entries show several possible contact paths. ExoticInvest is linked to exoticinvest.ltd. The FBA Investor appears as a social-media identity. For Bridge Marks, the FCA lists bridgemarks.cc, bridgemarks.net, bridgemarks.info and webtrader.bridgemarks.online.

What the warning establishes

Unauthorised status means the FCA has not permitted these parties to conduct the relevant business they may be promoting. UK consumers dealing with them would generally not have the normal recourse to the Financial Ombudsman Service or Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

The warnings are not final criminal judgments. The FCA pages do not publish a complete client count, aggregate losses, funds trail or final criminal liability. Those matters should not be presented as established facts.

The regulator also cautions that unauthorised firms may use incorrect contact details or information belonging to another business. A UK-looking address or a functioning trading interface does not itself prove authorisation.

A four-layer check for traders

Check the legal entity behind the brand, then confirm its exact permissions in the regulator's official register. Match the registered domain and contact channels against any social profile or WebTrader address. Finally, confirm that the receiving bank account, payment provider or wallet belongs to the contracting entity.

Do not treat advertisements, group-chat links or documents supplied by the salesperson as independent verification. Enter the regulator's register yourself and contact the firm through details published there.

Impact on firms and review platforms

Authorised firms should monitor lookalike domains, fake social profiles and unofficial trading gateways, while publishing a single clear set of contact and funding instructions.

Review platforms should separate brand, legal entity, permissions, operating domains and receiving entity. One genuine-looking data point must not be allowed to validate an unverified channel.

The three warnings illustrate a shift from a single suspicious website toward a chain of website, social identity and trading gateway. Verification should move in the opposite direction: from the regulator's register back to the official channel before login or payment.
